Choosing a DSC is easier when you answer four questions in order: where will it be used, who is signing, whether encryption is required, and how long the certificate should remain valid.
1. Start with the portal
Write down the exact portal and transaction. MCA filing, e-tendering and DGFT can have different applicant and certificate requirements.
2. Identify the signing capacity
Choose an individual certificate when signing in your personal capacity. Choose an organization certificate when you are an authorized signatory acting for an entity.
3. Buy only the capability required
Signature authenticates and signs. Combo adds encryption. Do not pay for combo unless your workflow explicitly needs encryption.
4. Plan validity and token use
Longer validity may reduce renewal frequency, but confirm the portal and product support it. Reuse an existing compliant token only after compatibility checks.
